Century City, Alcoa Corp. invited Environmental Communications to integrate art and culture to make the Urban Environment more human. The Laser show was one of the highlights. E.C. had the top two floors of the Yamasaki Towers for two years.

Elektra Records we created a film for Dorthy Morrison a gospel singer, show at San Quentin and Big Sur Folk Festival.

Waldo Salt (screenwriter “Midnight Cowboy”) and Marshall McLuhan partnered on research and development toward a feature film to big called “Wilshire” based on the socialist/capitalist pioneer developer of Los Angeles.

Dear Harvey Perloff UCLA school of Architecture Gave EC the job introducing Charles Jencks to Los Angeles environment and its Architecrture with a big A. That collaboration played an important part in his Book The Language of Post Modern Architecture just a couple of years later.

  • The Villa, 17518 Castellammare, Pacific Palisades, Beach house on Pacific Coast Hwy was the residence of D. Greenberg and various EC workers as well as the EC party house for very large parties. EC represented a sort of integrated culture of L.A. and Hollywood, a mansion party house helped a lot.

  • Top 4 floors of Yamasaki’s Century City Triangular tower, 2000 Avenue of the Stars floors 40 to 44. Used as EC studio for bring culture and art to and Urban Wasteland


On the Road and in the Air

  • 1976 Mustang Convertible painted iridescent blue gray smog color with vanity plate Smog 9, great for shooting around L.A and on Freeways.

  • Volkswagen Van, Rogers 1966 yellow media/surf van

  • Big Mama, Customized GMC 23’ Motorhome into our roving studio, hotel office and conference room crossing the country nearly 3 times shooting slide series and books and film. EC actually had some role in consulting on the General Motors design, they got some ideas from our slide series called Nomadic Truckitecture.

  • Environmental Communications Dune Buggy, able to use on off the road expeditions. One in particular with David MacDermott of Chrysalis and Roger Webster on a ecological discovery trip to the bottom of Baja California.

  • 1972 Cadillac Convertible, particular smooth drive for roaming filming and shooting L.A.

  • Good Year Blimp, we spent two full days in earlier 70’s really understanding L.A. from the air where you can really just float over it. Much of our best stuff came from those trips.

  • Various light planes for aerial photography and shoot almost every year during the 70’s.
